INTRODUCTION to NEUROPLASTICITY

This public service website is built around the idea of happiness, a state by which mankind shines in everything, age like a diamond, and is beneficial to all who decide to read it regardless of whether they are looking for enjoyment, reflection, or contemplation of ideas presented, or the implementation of the following pillars of a healthy brain: sports, satisfactions, successes, spirituality, moral support, sleep and nutrition.

To make it easier to read, every medical terminology that we have to use, like specific components of the brain, for instance hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, corpus callosum, etc. all the reader has to do, if need be, when encountering those terms is to double-click on them. You will see a new window from our own custom build internal dictionary with the definition of that term. When you finish reading, you just click to close that window. If you wish, go ahead and try it now, on the terms above.

Why should one be interested in the subject of Neuroplasticity?

There are some complex answers and some simple answers. Every time I am given that choice, I almost always chose a simple answer. So here it is:

“The ability of the brain to change — to adapt based on the environment, stimuli or experiences or by ones need/desire— is termed broadly as neuroplasticity,” says Mayo Clinic expert Prashanthi Vemuri, Ph.D., who researches the brain and neurodegenerative disorders. Although the brain is very complex, it also presents numerous ways of improving its functions and morphology (form/shape), as well as self-regeneration due to neuroplasticity.

As I mentioned before, this site is a public service and it is the result of a lot of research, to make it as simple, yet most complete, and comprehensive so no one is bored reading nor overwhelmed by its complexity.

One final information about this site, is that you will not be asked to subscribe, or sign in. We do not use cookies, so we will not be collecting any of your information, therefore not using or sharing your data. Sponsors will be covering the cost of research and the cost of maintaining the site.

Learning about neuroplasticity would be very educational and interesting reading, very useful if you are interested of improving the health of your mind, body and spirit, and should you decide to seek the advice of a neuroplasticity specialist, this knowledge will come very handy when you talk with him/her.

HERE ARE THE SUBJECTS YOU WILL FIND RELATED TO THE MAIN TOPIC OF NEUROPLASTICITY.

1 THE BRAIN – overall function, the components and their functions. The non-stop two way communication between the brain and every other organ and billions of cells in the body, and the decisions it has to make based on those information, it’s a very complex process that uses all the components of the brain and the rest of the nervous system. We try to take you through all the major components and functions to make it an interesting and useful reading.

2 NEUROPLASTICITY – there are a great deal of unknown facts about neuroplasticity and very intense research going on, trying to discover them. We will cover the most important facts known to date.

3 NEUROPLASTICITY IN CHILDREN – it is considerably different than in adults. This chapter obviously it will not be read by children, however it is extremely important for parents and grandparents, and/or for anyone else who is involved in raising/educating children.

4 NEUROPLASTICITY IN THE ADULTS – it is not as effective as before the age of 25, however it is applicable with somewhat less efficiency until the day you die. For example, an old person can still learn a new language, but it just takes longer.

5 NUTRITION – it could be extremely healthy for the brain, but it can also be very harmful if improper. We will discuss what and why.

6 PHYSICAL EXERCISES - If we are interested in keeping our hearths healthy, and our muscles fit and aesthetic, then we do certain things like exercising, proper diet etc. The good news is that we could do the same thing for the brain. Except that for the brain exercises are more divers, but very rewarding in terms of healing and maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit, and yes, let’s not forget the improvements we can do in just about every aspect of the brain function, such as cognitive, memory, emotional stability, clearer thoughts and how we express them, increased energy for physical and mental tasks, better control of our behavior and the good feeling in general etc.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC IN THE PRODUCTION OF NEUROPLASTICITY – The music models and reconfigures the human brain demonstrating the incredible force of neuroplasticity. We will present the information of how it takes place.

MEDITATION AND SLEEP – has an incredible influence for the entire brain and body wellbeing and just about every function. You will learn how that happens and a lot of the things you can do to improve it, which in turn will improve brain plasticity.

SOCIAL INFLUENCE ON NEUROPLASTICITY – we will present this by age group.

THE POWER OF THOUGHT IN THE HEALING PROCESS -

HATE IS THE CANCER OF THE MIND – hate can trigger the worst chemical the body can produce and in time, can destroy a person’s both physical and mental health. We will try to explain that process and how you can control it.

WE ARE THE SUM OF OUR THOUGHTS AND OUR EMOTIONS – so you know the old saying: “you are what you eat”. Well, you also are what your thoughts and your emotions are. “ The good thing is that they can be controlled and improved with some practice, if you are willing. 

THE POWER OF VISUALIZATION AND HOW TO VISUALISE-

THE POWER OF AFFIRMATION – there is a lot to talk about this, and we will, but simply put, let me use the words of Tom Peters (the management guru): “what gets praised, it get’s repeated”.

THE POWER OF LOVE – when people live in love and harmony with their spouses, family and friends then every hardship in live becomes easy. For example a financial problem is still a problem and you have to solve it, but it’s not a catastrophe any more as it is for the people who are alone and/or live in a conflictual environment.
